Explorer Context Menu Problem

Posted: 01-19-2009, 04:35 PM
Hi Folks....I'm not sure what has happened but recently (last couple days)
when I right-click a drive icon in Explorer to see the context menu, it
starts a process to configure Norton Ghost 9 which last a couple minutes and
then asks for a reboot. If I reboot and then try the right-click again it
does the same thing.

I've had Ghost 9 installed on this laptop for over a year with not issues.

What have I done and, even better, what can i do the make this stop?

Thanks.....RDK

I think the easy way to try to repair this is to select a restore point that
is before the onset of the problem and restore the system.

Ron....Thanks for your reply, however I tried that tact and got the usual
(for me, see posting several above this one) response that the restore failed.

Any other ideas?.....RDK

See my response to your other post about trying to run restore from safe
mode. For whatever reason, some people report that it will run OK from safe
mode while it continually fails in normal mode.

Ron....Thanks, I will give this a try. I assume I'm to start XP in the Safe
Mode and then initiate the Restore Point. When it restarts will it come up
in Safe Mode or normal? Thanks...RDK

Try folder, drive, directory, and possibly other pertinent associations
fixes here:

Fix File Associations.

I think (I have never tried it) it will come up in normal mode once you try
the restore and reboot.
