explorer search (.java files)

In W2K I could use the file explorer to do a search for a
key word in a file. I can still do this in XP but the
problem is that XP doesn't seem to search as many files.
For example, in W2K I could search for a key word in a
directory of .java files and the files containing the key
word would be returned. In XP it seems to ignore .java
files entirely! If I search for a key word in a .java file
that I know is there I still don't get a hit. Could
someone help me? I do key word searches all the time on
..java files so I really need this function in XP. Thanks!
