External Maxtor hard drive and floppy drive

For some reason, whenever i access my External USB 2.0
Maxtor hard drive (80 gig), it seems to access my floppy
drive as well. I have no clue what did this and no idea
how to fix it. I am running Windows XP Pro on a home built
Athlon XP 2700+ CPU, 512 MB RAM, A7n8x deluxe asus
motherboard, GeForce4 Ti 4200 with 8x AGP, 40 gig hard
drive by maxtor, microsoft optical intellimouse.. Lite On
DVD-ROM, Plextor 48X CD-RW.. i believe that's it..
