> I apologize. I did not think that it would be off topic since Windows 7
> though, can you please give a logical explanation as to why it is such a
> forbidden thing to mention Windows 7 in a Vista forum? I mean, it is the
> latest release from Microsoft and I feel it should be discussed here. I
> honestly do not see any negative effects that this post might have had.
> I understand that there may be rules, but there should be exceptions for
>
> I have HP DV9000 series which came with Vista Home Premium. Now system has
> I want to download Vista SP1 from Microsoft website
> Can I burn the exe file (Windows6.0-KB936330-X86-wave0.exe) as recovery
> Does this discs will have all softwares/drivers for webcam, audio, HP games,
> bluetooth, quickplay, lightscribe etc., which were there when the laptop was
>
> FYI- I have created recovery discs with Vista (built OS with the laptop)

Just burn the SP1 file you downloaded to a separate CD. Use the Restore
disks you have created to restore the machine - and yes they do contain
all the drivers, software etc etc. and then just install from the SP1 CD
afterwards.

 > Hello. I need your help. I have Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1
> Microsoft Streets & Maps 2007. I have no problems installing this core
> being successfully installed, I get the part that I elect to select the
> option "Install Windows Live Local for Outlook after Streets & Trips is
> finished." When I do and proceed, I immediately get a message that is
> titled, "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem". It states,
> "C:\Users\TROY\AppData\Local\Temp\LEO_SE~1.EXE The NTVDM CPU has
> 'Close' to terminate the application." What is going on? I need to get
> this part of the software installed.
>
> Now, I have installed Streets & Trips as a fresh install in the past on
> same previously installed operating system electing this option to
> install Windows Live Local for Outlook. I received no issues installing
> the Windows Live Local option at that time. This time I did. I have read
> online that Windows Vista does not support 16bit programs from a few
> sources. Yet, some users say that Vista does support them. Well, if I
Hi Leo Kline, the Dell data safe is an online feature which will hel
you store your data online. You will have to login to 'Dell DataSaf
Online Backup & Sharing' (http://www.dell.com/datasafe) and you ca
transfer all your data onto an online datastore. If you do not have th
username and pswd, contact Dell's tech support at 1-800-624-9896.
Whereas, on your Computer, the Recovery partition contains an image o
your computer as the way it was shipped to you by Dell. Incase of syste
failure, you can restore your computer to factory settings, as the wa
you had it on the day 1
You can access this recovery drive by tapping F8 on Dell logo an
select Repair Your Computer. It would be named as Dell Factory Imag
Restore. However, you should not install or add anything to this drive

use something like Recuva to get them back after deletion from the recycle

Sorry, yes your instructions did work. Maybe using \Temp\ was a bad
idea as one suggested. I found the folder but I couldn't find the
test.txt file I created inside the folder when I searched for it.
Instead of searching for 'All' I searched for 'Other' with
non-indexing still checked but grayed out. I couldn't find it. I
checked 'Document' too but that didn't find the file either. I
thought 'Documents' might be limited only to documents in that folder
and that since it is indexed and I was searching for non-indexed it
produced no results. When you are searching under Advanced do you
have to put your search string in the Name: entry space or can you
still use the Search bar space above outside of the Advanced box?

This whole think is just a matter of more brute force experiementing.
