Failed install - can I delete the temporary files?

Posted: 08-14-2006, 12:38 PM
I've tried many times to get VIsta to install on my computer (the problem
being that it won't recognise my RAID hard drives for some reason, no matter
what I try), and have just about given up. One thing I tried was to run the
installer from within WIndows to start with, rather than booting off the
downloaded DVD; however, this still didn't work, but I now have several
gigabytes of temporary files in the hard drive root directory, one of which
seems to be a boot manager (bcdedit.exe); is it safe to delete these files,
and will Windows XP be able to boot if I do?
