Fax Component Library problem

Posted: 08-18-2003, 12:58 AM
New Dell 8500 laptop here...and I've got a problem. My internal modem is
working, I can hyperterminal out just fine and all the diagnostics work fine
on it. However, I can't install the Windows Fax Component. When I attempt to
do so I get the following error message:

_________________________________
Windows XP Setup

! The installation library for component fax could not be intialized.
OK

That's it. No opportunity to browse for a CDrom or look in any other
locations. I contacted Dell, but since I'm past my one month of free
software support they want to charge me for a remedy...and I'm NOT willing
to pay them good money for something they should fix...a month's NOT enough
time to install and configure a new system!!!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Robert

You could try looking at the event log by invoking event viewer using -
Start->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer.
Also look at faxsetup.log generated in %WINDIR% directory. This will give
you more insight into why fax installation failed.
