Fax Console and remote fax device

Is there a way to get Windows XP Fax Console to recognize a remote fax device
(for example, Brother MFC420CN) located on the LAN? Or does Fax Console only
detect local fax modems?

The "Configure Fax" menu says "There are no modems installed on this
computer", and the status bar in the Console says "No fax printer installed".

I'm able to print to the network fax device by using Brother's own network
fax application; but I want to use Microsoft Outlook for faxing with
Fax4Office, and they require that the fax device work with Fax Console.

Would a fax server be required in this case?

A local analog fax modem is your only option unless you are running on a
network to which XP Fax can serve as a client (such as Windows Server Fax or
SBS Fax).

Aha. Once Windows Server Fax or SBS Fax is set up, then XP Fax Console will
be able to communicate with it?

Does Windows Server Fax work with most fax devices, for example,
USB-attached device?

XP fax can function as a client for those fax services, although each
service also has a client you can install on client machines. --
