Fax fine tiff image preview errors in WPFV and MSPaint, appears asnegative image

Posted: 12-30-2008, 09:32 AM
Hi,

I have a TIFF image (monochrome). It appears correct on Linux/Windows
(GIMP) etc. however the colors get reversed (white<->black) as a
negative on Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and MS Paint.

Any ideas what may be the cause? TIFF Image properties are:-

TIFF Directory at offset 0x8 (8)
Subfile Type: multi-page document (2 = 0x2)
Image Width: 2048 Image Length: 1469
Resolution: 204, 196 pixels/inch
Bits/Sample: 1
Compression Scheme: CCITT Group 3
Photometric Interpretation: min-is-black
FillOrder: lsb-to-msb
Samples/Pixel: 1
Rows/Strip: 1469
Planar Configuration: single image plane
Page Number: 0-1
Group 3 Options: EOL padding (4 = 0x4)

Help please.

Thanks,
Abhi

Your problem is not unheard of.

To answer a question with a question, what does the image look like in say
IrfanView?

This may help to decide if the image data in the file is actually in a form
that matches the description.

I suspect that MS Paint and WPF viewer don't pay as much attention to the
image properties as they might.
