Fax in XP

Posted: 07-29-2003, 02:06 AM
My fax console in XP has suddenly stopped informing me
that faxes are being sent or recieved.
The fax monitor is always blank also.
However, they are being sent and recieved.
Just no warning when a new one has arrived.
Fax monitor also shows empty screen whilst
sending/receive even though I can hear the transmission.

Any ideas to reactivate fax monitor.

Regards,
Rob

How did you set it up? Have you correctly configured an analogue modem which
is connected to an ordinary phone point?

The fax program in XP doesn't recognize my modem, but the
rest of XP does. I.E., I can dial up aol(although I
usually connect by, and my modem reinstalls properly.
But using the fax terminal, the modem doesn't exist. I
even bought another mocem -- same result. the orig and
the new modem were US Robotics. new one is designed to
work in XP it is model USR5660A.
Anybody ever have this problem?

Please check to ensure that the devices are set for monitoring. Go to
Printers And Faxes ->Fax and right-click on Properties and click on the
Monitoring Tab and check all the events you want to monitor.

Thank you, Manoj

Check whether modem is installed properly? If installed properly then check
whether you are getting any pop up window or an error message when you open
the fax terminal? Did you try sending a fax? Is it giving any error? Is
there a fax printer installed?

Hi Jerry,
A couple of questions:-
1) Do you have a modem installed on you machine?
2) If the answer to the previous question is yes, then is the modem
configures to send faxes?
You can configure the modem to send faxes by carrying out the following
steps:-
a) Open the Fax Console (Start Menu ->All programs -> Accessories ->
Communication -> Fax -> Fax Console)
b) Go to the "Tools" Menu (Alt+T)
c) Select Configure Fax ... option.
This brings up the Configure fax wizard. The third page of this wizard will
show your device. Check the "Enable Send", in order to enable sending of
faxes.

Thanks,
