Fax Viewer

In Fax Console when I ask to view a fax I want to send
the viewer defaults to a photo program that I don't want
to use. How do I change the default to a different
program...like notepad or the original Fax Console viewer
program?

Just reassociate TIF files with the Windows XP Picture and Fax viewer.
Here's the path statement:
rundll32.exe <drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fu llscreen %1

You can change the viewer program for your faxes (which are .TIFF files) by
changing the associated viewer. Open any folder using windows explorer.
Select Tools->Folder Options -> File Types. Now change the Opens with
program for Tiff files to the progrma you want to open your faxes with.

fax viewer

Hello all,

All of a sudden I cannot view my faxes and I keep getting this error
message;

Fax Console
The facts document cannot be displayed because your operating system
does not have a default viewer for fax documents (.tif files).

In My Pictures the default viewer is "Windows Pictures and Fax
Viewer".

I uninstalled Windows fax and reinstalled it and it did not do any
good. How do I go about setting the operating system's viewer for fax
documents?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Kevin Millar posted this reply on another newsgroup and it works.

Try this: Open "My Computer" and click on "Tools" - "Folder Options" -
"File
Types". Scroll down and see if you have a registered viewer for files
with a
".TIF" extension. If not, click on "New" and type in "TIF" (without a
dot or
quotes). Click on "OK". Then, with the "TIF" extension highlighted,
click on
"Change" and select the viewer you wish to use for these file types.
