Faxing multiple documents

Posted: 01-06-2004, 07:41 PM
How do you fax more than one document under the same cover page? I have tried selecting more than one document for faxing and it creates a new cover page for each document. Is there a way to send a group of 2 or more documents under the same cover page without creating a new document?

Not natively. The only way is to fax as multiple attachments from Outlook.

Does anyone know how to fax multiple documents (i.e. multiple files) as just
a single fax. I can't seem to get windows xp fax to do this.

Windows XP Fax does not support this. The only way to do so is to attach the
documents to a fax sent from Outlook.

Thanks for your reply.

When you say this can be done by attaching the documents to a fax sent in
Outlook, is this a fax sent using a dial up modem, or a fax sent using an
internet fax service?

I seem to remember that to send a fax from within outlook, one must press
file, print, etc rather than sending to a fax number listed in the address
book. After pressing file, print, etc. I still could not send multiple files,
but only a cover page.

In addition to using Outlook, the following methods will allow you to
combine multiple files into a single document

If you have Office 2002/2003, you can use Microsoft Office Document Imaging
to both create image files of documents by printing them to the MODI
"printer" and to insert these image files into a single document that can be
printed to the Fax printer. Microsoft Office Document Imaging replaces the
Picture and Fax Viewer when either version of Office is installed

Authoring tools for .PDF documents can also be used to combine various types
of documents into a single .PDF document that can be printed to the Fax
printer.

Thanks for the reply.

Now why can't Outlook 2003 just have this info included in outlook help???
As far as I know it does not say anything about fax transport in outlook help.

Thanks. Got all of those programs. Now I can finally get rid of Winfax, which
is now refusing to backup faxes - possibly due to SP2.

Sadly, Outlook Help has never contained any reliable information on Fax.
Apparently, it's not on their radar screen.
