I tried the Vista feedback form but it kept telling me to enter the 4 digit
build number (which I had).
Build 5728. Dealing with the Windows Vista Start Menu is very frustrating.
If I install 70 programs and each one puts its own folder on the Start Menu,
I don't want a menu a hundred miles long. I normally create folders such as:
Applications, Audio, Education, Graphics, etc. Under Applications I might
have subfolders: Anti-virus, File management, Disk management, Text
management, etc. and even subsubfolders. I then move the 70 folders created
by the installations to the proper places. Some shortcuts have to be
duplicated and renamed (as Forte Agent to access different start-in folders
or NewsBin Pro to pass different configuration files). Some Windows
shortcuts have to be moved (as NotePad and WordPad to Applications\Text
management). Under Windows XP Pro, this was no problem, but Windows Vista
hides things, denies access, or appears to allow the action but the results
are not as one would expect. I've even ended up with multiple items with the
same name showing on the start menu. All this must be corrected or the start
menu will be a convoluted mess.
