| First off, can I disable all that requesting permissions stuff??? Geeeze its geting annoying. I try to do ANYTHING and it asks me to give it permission. That and I just installed a program and I goto use it and it says that I cant do that because I dont have admin privlages when in fact i DO. I really love vista, but the super protective security stuff is getting extremely annoying | Guest

| Wow! I AGREE. This is SO FRUSTRATING. I hate the way Microsoft has this monopoly and we're stuck with Vista. I can't even RENAME A FOLDER! It says I don't have permission. I read in Help that it will just ask for a password. Uh..NO! Asks for nothing. Just will not let me do it. And I have found I have to start EVERYTHING through the Administrator. No program starts from an incon on the desk top. Have to go back to where I installed it and right-click and start through administrator. I hear more error bells and bongs and whistles than I've ever heard in my entire life! Actually? I HATE VISTA! I wish this new computer did not have it. So if anyone DOES know how to get rid of all this permission stuff, please respond because I for one am VERY tired of Vista. | Guest

| I agree! I need to get this permissions stuff off my computer. Vista has to be the most frustrating OS I've ever had in my entire life! I hate that Microsoft has a monopoly and all new computers have come out with Vista. I can't even rename a folder anymore! It says I need permission. Help menu says that you can rename the folder and it'll ask for a password. WRONG!!! Just flat won't let me rename a folder. How imbecile is that! The simplest of operations now are so frustrating and nearly impossible. All my software has to be run from where it was installed and then opened through the Administrator. I can't even run software from an icon on the desktop. Pointless having icons on the desktop. Everything has to be run through the administrator AND THEN it's a very good likelihood you won't be able to run it anyway! If there is only ONE PERSON on a computer, then it should be able to be set to LOSE ALL THIS PERMISSIONS AND RUN THROUGH ADMINISTRATOR JUNK! Wow....I've never become so frustrated with an OS in my entire life! I would NOT RECOMMEND VISTA TO ANYONE if you're just upgrading on your computer. DON'T DO IT!! I guarantee you'll regret it! WinXP Pro is the only way to go. So does anyone know how to rename a folder -- you know, not by the old standard right-click, rename..........but by whatever method Vista needs. THX, PJ | Guest

| And even more frustrating is this Microsoft community forum procedure. Every time I tried to post it would say I needed to verify my email address and I had to go to my inbox and click on a link and that link would say I was verified. EXCEPT, then I'd come back and REPOST and it would ask the same thing all over again. I did that about 6 times, and each time would come back and there was NO POST! So I had to retype it. NOW LOOK!!! NOW it decides to post them all? Ridiculous! I wish I'd never heard the name Microsoft or Vista! | Guest

| Hrm, well I'm not the only one :-P Also, I installed firefox. It ran great, then one day stopped working. So I un installed it now try to re install it. It refuses to reinstall because some specific file is freakin blocked by the super strict crap. I cant rename anything either. I cant get it to install any of my big games. diablo II and mafia will not get through the multi disc isntalls, ect. Would making a 2nd admin account work??? I cant believe how stupid this is! | Guest

| That is caused by the clunky web interface you are using. Instead use a newsreader. Open Windows Mail. On the left side click "Microsoft Communities". Follow prompts to load available newsgroups and select the groups you want. If you choose another newsreader, use msnews.microsoft.com as the news server -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "pj" <pj@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F1F2A268-83A2-44BC-BE64-4FF7C1F25FD3@microsoft.com... | That sounds like it may be UAC. You can easily disable it: Start/Run Type "msconfig" ENTER Tools tab, near the bottom click "Disable UAC" Click "Launch" and "OK" You may need to reboot before changes are effective. But are you sure you really want to permanently disable this protection? Once I had my computer set up and running, I rarely see the messages. And the few time I do, it is only warning about potential security issues. Do not assume because you see it a lot during setup you will continue to see it a lot because that is probably not true. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "theratdude64" <theratdude64@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:42ECE460-F222-4C01-83D4-1E4762FA0D6B@microsoft.com...
