FILE NVRD32.SYS COULD NOT BE FOUND

Posted: 03-19-2009, 08:05 PM
I have a new Dell mini 910 laptop with Wixdows XP, SP3. I started geting
various error message, to the effect that Windows couldn't save certain files
when I closed various applications.

I started to reinstall XP from the CD that came with the computer, and it
gave me the option of downloading a Windows XP, SP3 update from the MS
website. When I tried this, I got the following error message: "File
NVRD32.sys could not be found.

I closed everything and updated XP, SP3 directly from the MS website. Do I
need to download this file to avoid future problems? Or how can I determine
if that file is on the computer?

May have some relevance. This appears most likely to be an NVidia Raid
driver. If your laptop uses SATA. you may also have run into a windows bug
that makes the SATA drivers not available at a point in the
install/reinstall process.
