| Using Windows Explorer, find the file you want to edit and right-click on it and select Open With-->Choose Default Program. | I think it works the same as in XP. Right-click the program's shortcut icon and choose Properties. On the Shortcut tab of the Properties sheet click Change Icon. I can't speak to the actual icon for the text editor. That has nothing to do with Vista and how that works is up to whoever created that text editor.
