Filing reports in another language?

Posted: 09-02-2006, 12:28 PM
Since sometimes I'm a lazybone, a sluggard and an
idle fellow, I'd like to write my reports in my native
language. I haven't done so as of yet, since I thought
that would lead to a scant chance for them to be-
come read. Is that true and should I continue to ago-
nize my twodotfive working brain cells?

I'm sure they would be able to read it because Microsoft has newsgroups for
other things that are German.

The (beta) report client offers a broad variety of laguages
so I was tempted to pick german ;-) but don't really think
they wuold treat such reports the same way they do with
repoprts filed in english. Anyway, my braincells are ready
to become abused some more ;-)

Email LHBeta@microsoft.com and ask the Vista team. I don't know how anyone
in a peer-to-peer newsgroup like this one would know that.

Well, some MVPs lurk around here, so chances are, the
knowledge I'm asking for may hover above these group
in the form of a not yet materialized cluster of letters, wai-
ting to come to life in order to enlighten the ignoramuses...

And since Colin is an MVP, maybe his advice is worth a second look?

I didn't realize that - missing the "[MVP]" addon - and maybe
not every MVP is necessarily involded in such a way that he/
she can answer the question. But anyway, I'm definitely not
interested in a "group-war" of any kind. I will continue writing
my reports in the language I expect to be the one that is spo-
ken by every person working on the project.

Kai-Uwe

asked, is because it would be easier for me to be as precise
and accurate I'm used to be when it comes to descriptions of
technical coherences. Sorry, if I tread on sb.'s foot, but some
toes seem to stick out of their shoe a bit.

Colin is very modest, and does not include "MVP" in his signature. But he
is exceptionally helpful and his advice is worth heeding. He has helped me
immensely. His specialty is virtual machines, so if you ever want to know
the intricate nuances, he's your man.

My personal opinion is that a company as diverse and large as Microsoft
would be able to handle something as simple as a bug report in your native
language, and if it were me (but it isn't) I would submit them in Deutsch.
But you must be comfortable, and if you feel that sending them in English is
better, then do so.

Also, I must say, your English is quite excellent for it not being your
native language!

Good Luck

Mark
