Find Album Info doesn't work?

Posted: 10-26-2006, 02:41 AM
When I use Find Album info, it updates everything but the track name. I
select "Use this album for all selected songs" and it comes up saying there's
no match. Right now they have generic track names, such as "Track 02". I
think it's because it's searching by name. How can I get it to update
everything?

Many of the online database's records don't actually have track data
included, so you're left to type the data in yourself.

Ah, that makes sense. Can I change which database that WMP gets the info
from? because it did get the track names when I used it before.

No.

Past successes with the database do not indicate continuing success with the
same albums. At one point I noticed that many hundreds of records got
overwritten with Japanese and Korean data. Others which were locatable are
no longer so. It's a very poorly maintained database, and Microsoft doesn't
provide a way to switch to an alternate.

Each CD has an ID burned on to it, when you copy the CD you copy the code.
This is how online databases identify the disc.
If you rip tracks from 2 CDs onto one disc then obviously the original disc
IDs no longer exist so how would an online database know what was on your
disc?
