Finding Hidusb.sys specifically for XP

Posted: 09-16-2003, 03:56 AM
I downloaded the XP Home Edition startup disk program
located on the downloads section, and got the start up
disk on 6 floppys.

Disks 1-3 run smooth, however, once I get to startup disk
4, it says "hidusb.sys file is corrupted". I downloaded
this again and again and got the same corruption error.
So I searched high and low for this online...

but I can only find it for 98 and not XP.

I figured there was no big deal in OS for this usb
driver, so I mearly took out the corrupted file from my
new boot disk, and put in the 98 hidusb file (since it
was stated elsewhere this file was introduced with 98 and
has been a mainstay, but it still said the file was
corrupted.

Where can I get this particular file for XP? Its mocking
me.

It should be version 5.1.2600.0 for XP

Can you not boot directly to the XP CD and do the installation from there?
