Firewire PCI Card

Posted: 01-28-2008, 09:19 PM

Hi there,
I have a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R motherboard and need to add firewire to it.
I am using Vista Home Premium 64Bit OEM

I cannot seem to find a PCI firewire card (PCI-X is tooo expensive yet)
that states it will work in vista 64bit.

Has anyone managed to get a card working? and if so what is the make
and model (if it is still available).
Many thanks.

Hi,
I have an "old" (5 years old?) ADS Technologies PIRO1394DV PCI card.
Works in Vista x64 without the need of "external" drivers.
Vista picked it up with no problems since day one.
ADS Tech says "no drivers" here:
http://www.adstech.com/support/downl...id=API-1394PCI
but in fact you don't need them.

Any of them should work just fine, drivers are included in both XP and Vista
64 bit versions.

Here's a link and the product is available:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815124034

It's inexpensive, has a tap for a case front port, installed without a hitch
on my XP Pro (32 bit) and the manual indicates that it works with XP 64.
