Firewire under Vista

Posted: 04-03-2007, 04:45 PM
All of my firewire devices work perfectly under XP Pro. I have a dual boot,
with Pro on C and Vista Ultimate on D. No problems there (so far!). But
none of my firewire connections are recognized under Vista. That includes
an Epson printer (R800), two external hard disks (Western Digital and
Buffalo respectively), and a Sony CD burner. I see a Microsoft announcement
which says no more TCP/IP using 1394. My networking is ethernet and
wireless, so I don't really suffer there, but no mention anywhere as to
whether this includes ports.

Or, is there a service I need to start (removable devices is already up) or
a setting I need to change? I'm drawing a blank at this point, and I have a
great deal of money tied up in these peripherals that I would hate to lose,
not to mention the convenience. USB2 performance is definitely inferior by
comparison.

Anybody know how to get this hardware up under Vista?
