Floppy Disc

I have the same problem. It either says the floppy is not
formatted (which it is) or that it has no ID. I did a
system restore and floppys that it was able to read with
no problem just a few hours ago it will no longer read.

Thanks so much Eric it worked like a charm :-) The
obvious solutions always seem to elude me. Thanks again!

By the way, any luck with accessing your old dirty floppy disk again?
If you give up and decide to throw it away, there is one last ditch trick
that I use to try to 'salvage' the floppy.

First, have a close look at the disk's surface (front and back). Not the
areas where you see the dirt or mold. Get a cotton swab dipped in water and
try to wipe off the moldy part. Be careful not to wipe too hard so you
don't scratch the surface. Also, carefully wipe the area dry before moving
to the next part of the disk.

Now, try reading the floppy disk again.

I managed to get a 70% success rate in salvaging old floppies this way.
