Start - Control Panel - Folder Options - View Reset All Folders.

If it reoccurs put something other than pictures in the first level of sub folders.

It could be two levels not one (I have to search 30000 old posts to find my notes - that takes 1/2 hour). All folder and explorer windows have to be closed when the reset is done..
