Hi Alex,

See if you tried this already in a Explorer window:
1. Click View and click Tiles.
2. Click Tools > Folder Options
3. Click View tab.
4. Click "Apply to Folders"
NOTE: This only changes the windows with the same file folder type.
5. Click Apply and Ok.

You can read more on the folder type templates that Vista uses at this
link. You will just need to change to tiles for each folder type
template by opening that type in a Explorer window.

If you are doing the above steps and Vista just does not remember your
last settings that you closed the window with, then look at this link to
reset Vista's view memory.
