Hey my son went back to college, and had himself set as
our computer administrator. He has forgotten his
password, and since the little stink made us all limited,
we can't change it. HOW do I get one of us to be an
administrator and get his name off it?

When WIndows made the Administrator accounts
they made it so that it's over all accounts.

Microsoft has a master password but if they gave
that away you can get on any body's computer.

I sorry to say but there is no help.
I can't even contact your computer manufactor
because they don't know. You can tell your
son to buy a new hardrive and Install Windows XP
again.

Reinstall wxp -the only solution - you don't need to buy a
new hard drive: just log on with a programme which removes
all or put an ordinary windows diskette with fdisk-command
present and try that way.

You will of course loose all your datas, but it is cheaper
than buying at new hard drive - in any rate you will loose
your datas, so why not do it in the cheapest way - you
probably have a back-up of the important data? If not -
have a good cry and good luck! :-)

Try leaving the password blank.

The password is Case Sensitive.
Check Caps Lock and try various of Capital combinations.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321305
If you do not have a Password Recovery Disk, it is to late to make it.
Or
Log in to any account that has Administrator access.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.

Windows XP Pro:
At the log-in screen, press Ctrl/Alt/Del twice quickly
Type "Administrator" and leave password blank.

Windows XP Home:
Reboot, tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu.
Select Administrator, leave password blank.

Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Here is another option:
http://www.wininternals.com/products...very/index.asp

Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.
