FTP Server not working properly

Hello,

I have just re-installed WinXP on my system and enabled/installed FTP services.
I have configured FTP services, verified that the service starts on system
startup. I can also connect to the FTP site - I cannot however successfully
excute ANY command including "LS."

What am I missing in the setup???

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
