g force 4 4200 ti driver upgrade

Yesterday I was running a pc game and I was having some
video difficulties so I went to the nvidia site and
downloaded the latest drivers for my gforce 4 4200 ti
board. While I was installing it It stopped midway and I
was told that microsoft hadn't ok'd this driver yet. Well
I went ahead and installed it. It works great except for
when I restart the computer the system hangs for a few
seconds and makes some weird noises. Do you know if
microsoft has done anything with this driver upgrade (
May 2003 )? It is nothing I can't live with but it would
be nice if everything was back to normal. thank you
