G4 crashes on waking up

My G4 1.42 DP with OS 10.2.6 keeps crashing when waking up. It doesn't
happen every time but when it does the Apple 17" Studio Display has a
pattern all over it and I have to restart the computer.
Anyone got an idea what could be causing this?
