Games I plan to purchase

Default Games I plan to purchase

I figured I would post games I plan to purchase for my new machine. All these
are so far XP compatible
Fear
Quake 4
Doom 3
Half life 2
Call of Duty 2
I realize Vista is brand new and drivers and updates from MS will be needed
to make XP software run on it. As I said, I am sure companies will update
software to Vista for newbies like me or they just wont any games compatible
with XP.
Any info will help.

The only game on your list that I have heard people having problems with is
fear, apparently it has some big frame rate issues with vista.

Most of those games will work with Vista with no updates with the
exception of FEAR.

With NVIDIA cards, you may have other issues, but those are more of a
driver issue than a game vs. Vista issue.

I love FEAR and FEAR extraction point and I don't seem to have too much of a
problem in Vista Home Premium. I have an 8800 GTS. If ever I do have
problems it is when I run the game continuously for more than an hour. I did
have a problem at first BUT if you go into the NVIDIA control panel and
change the multi display/multi GPS to the single deplay mode this ended my
major headaches.

Fear seems to work fine here under vista

As I noted above, I was having some FEAR issues, but it turns out that the
problem was caused by my G15 keyboard. Under my old keyboard, FEAR is
running only about 10 fps slower than XP.
Doom3 runs about 10 fps slower and HL2 about 10fps slower. I'm running a
X1900XTX, I think there has been alot more compliants from the nVidia side
of the house, even a possible lawsuit mentioned. But I think in the next
month or less, nVidia will have drivers that work good enough, if not as
good as can it does under XP.
