general question about updates

Posted: 02-07-2004, 10:00 PM
Hi,
How can I explain it, when I try to update some programs
(never mind whatever in this case, e.g.: FastNet99 today)
using the put in update function, the winows error
message emerge saying something of the kind: "no internet
connection or update file not found". Now, when I go to
the program's homepage e.g. via the "About" window of the
program (but that seems not to be important, in my view)
and try to make an another attempt via the mentioned
update function of the program, suddenly all works
properly.
Has anybody explanation on the issue?

Richard

Exactly what do you mean when you say "using the put in update function",
what is that?

I mean, I'm using the update function of the program (the
jointed update function - almost every program has this
function, mostly from the "About"- window, or from the
pop-up window (right-click the sys-tray icon or alike).
Now, when I go to the program's home page, not to do
the update - simply connecting to the page and when
close my internet connection and try to update the
mentioned program, curiously all do work properly, means
I can do update the program directly therefrom.
