Generic stealth DVD SCSI CdRom device?

Posted: 12-04-2003, 04:09 PM
I have the following device listed under DVD/CD-ROM
drives under Device Manager.
I can not seem to get rid of it by simply removing the
device icon.
The problem I have is strange in that I do not have any
SCSI devices much less a DVD SCSI device! I have 2 DVDs
that are currently installed & are both listed correctly
in the Device Manager & seem to work fine.
I am trying to figure out how to delete this device that
physically is not present.
Every time I remove it, it reappears. Go figure. Thanks
for any assistance.

If you have added an addition IDE controller cards, then Windows is treating
this card as a SCSI adapter. This is normal.

I have not added any addition IDE controller cards.
As I mentioned before, it shows the above device under
DVD/CD-ROM drives.
I currently am only using the primary & secondary
controllers with both HDs & DVD drives (2 each).
This did not show up when I initially installed XP so it
has me confused.

Did you install any application that creates virtual cd/dvd drives (for the
purposes of loading cd images).

It's almost certain you did and those are the resultant drives that are
created to mount the cd images.
