Ghost in this Vista Machine - 1

Somebody (not Goldilocks) is eating my cookies (not porridge)! Since a few
days ago I started losing settings on certain websites - MSNBC, Google News,
Yahoo (new start page) - whenever I restart this (test set up) machine.

I have tried all Internet settings - in Privacy and Security tabs as well as
unchecked "Clear TIF on exit" - but nothing changes anything. This included
trying different permutations and combinations of the few settings
available.

The settings are not lost as long as I do not shut down the machine! Also,
if I import the cookies from my saved file, things start working okay again.
But then till the shutdown only!

I had this problem right after installing this Public Beta 5384 as well as a
colleague (he posted to these NGs) but the problem went away by itself,
inexplicably, on both our machines (about a week apart) - or maybe something
was changed without realizing it. Till it came back on mine now. His is
still "ghost-free". We have used Vista sparingly though, I do admit.

Apart from this I have been having a very fruitful experience with Vista and
do think is is quite a change from Windows XP. It does things somewhat
differently though and requires a somewhat steeper learning curve.
