Ghost or unattended install

Posted: 07-17-2003, 07:01 AM
I am trying to upgrade a new client to an OEM Win XP Pro OEM Office XP Pro
environment.

4 Dell Dimension 2350
1 Dell Dimension 2300
2 Compaq Prosario

I'm working on building a unattended installation via winnt.sif file with
all the drivers and small programs to automatically install. This is very
time consuming, and I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

I'm having a real tough time with winnt.sif setting the timezone to Arizona
015, and getting the call for the drivers off the $OEM$/$1 folders
I'm also wondering if I can apply the security policies via the unattended
installation also

I'm starting to think we should just build a Ghost image, and then use a
utility to change the individual product key to what is listed on the
sticker on the box. Is a similar utility to change the product key for
Office?

Is there a switch to get sysprep to force the fresh images to ask for a
product key for XP Pro or XP Office?
