Going back to the beginning

I would like to clean up my computer and take it back to
the beginning, before I put any programs on. I don't have
a restore point back that far. There is one program that
I can't delete no matter what I try and I want to start
from the beginning all over again. How can I do this with
Windows XP? I've backed up all my files and have the
programs on disk but can't figure out how to get back to a
clean hard drive.
