Going from Vista to a dual boot system

Posted: 10-27-2007, 04:36 PM
I have two hard drives. I currently have Vista on one of them and I want to
install XP on the other and have the option of booting to either one on start
up. I installed XP on the 2nd drive but I never got the option of selecting
which OS to start up with and after I installed XP, it didn't even recognize
the drive that Vista was on. So, can someone tell me if I have Vista on one
drive and have a second formatted drive, how can I install XP and have the
dual boot option?

Vista must be installed via XP - however give serious, consideration to a
dual boot setup. If you have been monitoring the newsgroups you should be
aware of the difficulties created when one desires to return to Vista (or
XP).

Yes I have read about some of the misery that occurs. I've decided to try and
use the Virtual PC software and see if I can accomplish what I need to do,
with it.

If Vista was installed first, try booting off the vista disk and using the
startup repair tool. It should fix your boot files and find both operating
systems.
