Halo for PC: "Network Connection Lost" again!

Posted: 11-02-2003, 02:51 AM
I am running Halo for PC with no problems, my video card
rocks, my RAM is huge, etc. - single player is great.

When I log on to showcase my skills online, there is a
problem. I am connected to the Internet with dialup
56K. I log on, find a server, and join a game. I am in
the game and playing for a few seconds, and the game
halts, leaving with a message "Network Connection Lost"
and back at the title screen.

During these drops, my connection to the Internet IS NOT
lost. I am just dropped from games.

I have set the connection setting to 56K, the ports are
set up accurately, and I turned off my firewall setting
in Windows XP. All updates (to 1.02) and drivers seem
OK. What is the problem????!

Halo for PC: "Network Connection Lost" again!

Is the problem that with a 56K connection I am limited to
games of only 2 persons? That would not be cool, because
there isn't much of a 1-on-1 game going on.

Please do NOT turn off your firewall. It isn't necessary, and only opens
your system to the Internet and infections. The problem probably is a poor
connection. Dropping below a certain ping time will automatically drop you
from games because your line can't keep up with the changes.

Josh, don't turn off your firewall. You probably are not coming in fast
enough on your modem. I'm on cable modem and no problem with Norton's
personal fire wall turned on. My problem is I can't compete with you
guys. I've died too many times. :-(
