Hard drive manufacturers advertise 1mb as 1000bytes. But with windows 1mb is
1024bytes. My western digital is 180gb but is 167gb with windows. But that
seems to be quite alot lost maybe the motherboard don't support it or needs
an update

167 GB is about right. It's just a marketing ploy by the hard drive
companies, one which they're being sued over.

I have divided my hard drive in to 2 gig partitions. The
partition that contains the programs and files to run xp is
down to 98 mega bytes. Where can I find info on the
programs and files that can be safely removed?

I have a hard drive in My Computer that does not exist.
I can not delete from that window. Looked in device
manager and that drive is not there. How can I get it out
of My Computer?

Thanks

Hi,

Probably a namespace item, you can remove it from the registry if you are
positive this is a false item. Start/run regedit, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\MyComp
uter\NameSpace

Look at the subkeys below this level, one of them should correspond to the
unwanted icon. You can delete the key to remove the unwanted reference.

Have a hard drive listed in "my computer" that does not
exist. Tried to correct using regedit, but found no icons
under namespace folder. What else can I try?
