SP1/1a for Windows XP supports 48-bit LBA. Your BIOS will need to support it
as well.

If you have the most current bios, SP1 should work. You
should also download the chipset controller driver
(Intel's is called the "application accelerator" and can
be downloaded free from their website - via also has one
for their chipsets).

If none of this works, a $30 Promise PCI card controller
will work for sure.

You will need SP1 and also a Bios that supports it which is harder to know.
