Hardware Installation Wizard

Posted: 10-06-2003, 06:10 PM
I recently purchased an new HP all-in-one (HP PSC2175) and
installed the new software and drivers via the enclosed
CD. However, a "found new hardware" message keeps coming
up that a new printer has been detected and the Wizard
starts up but cannot find the driver?? This message will
not go away. The new printer/scanner works fine despite
these messages. All I want to do is stop the plug and
play feature from trying to install new drivers. That was
done from the product CD. HELP!

Hi, Lyle.

Have you visited the HP website? Even though you just bought the printer,
the CD-ROM in the box may be months old. Navigate their website to find out
what you need to do to get that model working with WinXP.

These HP all-in-ones (I have the OfficeJet G55) need two kinds of software:
the drivers, and the full-function software that lets us use all the super
features. The drivers must include support for the printer, plus the
scanner, plus the fax, if the machine includes one. Sometimes the drivers
and the other software step on each other's toes. :>(

If nothing else, the HP website should have some FAQs that can answer your
questions.
