Default having difficulty importing audio files

I copied songs from my cds onto windows media player. from there, since the songs were saved under My Music, I planned to use them in windows movie maker. however, everytime I try to import the files, a dialogue box pops up saying I can't. each file has a .wma extension, but it says every song is digitally protected, so I can't use them. if I can't use songs I copied from cds, then where can I get songs I can use in my movies?

Hi there,

1) Delete all of the music files
2) DO NOT backup the licence if you are asked
3) Turn off the Digital Rights Managaer in whatever program you use to copy
these music files
4) Copy the files from your CD again.
5) Import to Movie Maker as desired

you just need to turn off content protection in windows media player

Tools | Options | Copy Music tab, uncheck the box about copy protecting
music

then they import fine (you will need delete the songs from your mymusic
folder and then re-rip those songs)

you were asked about this setting during setup of the player and probably
ignored it like many do...
