Having a God awful time!

Posted: 05-24-2004, 07:54 PM
Boy did I open a can of worms. I have an old Dazzle DVC 80 USB device for
capturing simple video from a VCR of even a camera. I plug it in to the USB,
plug in the A/V leads (properly) and I can capture video but no audio! The
sound choices are SB Live! [B800] and Dazzle DVC 80 Audio. I can select
either and capture video with each but not sound. What am I missing here?
I'm not a sophisticated digital guru but this shouldn't be a daunting
problem yet I am frustrated in not being able to figure this out. Any
suggestions?

The audio leads (red and white??) need to be connected to the sound card -
sb live setting. You may need a convertor from two rca to mini jack.

Interesting. I have the required input device. After plugging it in to my
sound board from the VCR and plugging the video input from vcr->Dazzle
device and using a program such as Uleads VideoStudio 7, I get sound & video
playing on the screen. After I get , say
30 sec of video & audio I test run the saved file but again no sound is
captured!

Am I right in saying....
When previewing what you are about to capture you get audio and video.
After recording the audio and video there is no audio present on the
recording.

This means audio is coming in to the pc, so it must be a setting in the
capture settings of UVS7. I'm not conversant with this app, but make sure
you have not mistakenly unselcted audio capture/muted it or that when the
movie is captured the audio is not muted on the timeline. Ensure that you
haev the audio connected to the correct input socket, try line in and / or
microphone and ensure that that one is selected in the volume control >
recording.

Hi,
Unfortunately, there are known issues with the Dazzle 80. The drivers
are bad and it doesn't output a valid audio stream. You might want to try
running the audio into your sound card line in and selecting that as the
audio source for Movie Maker.
Good Luck,
