having multiple hard disk drives

I need to build a computer/server type of system that has
massive storage space, it will be used for backing up cd-
images of data cds for recovery purposes. Need around
400x 700mb cd images which is around 2800gb, i've heard
of hard drives having around 500gb, but to my knowledge
you can only have 4ide drives connected, and i'll need 2
ide for 2cd burners, i've seen some ide controller cards,
but i'm not sure if these would allow me to connect
multiple hard drives in addition to the 2 ide slots that
allow up to 4 drives on the mobo....any advice or help
would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Justin
