check the info on my Setup MM2 in XP > MM2.1 page....

v2.1 is part of SP2, so if you don't have it with SP2, it didn't finish the
install...

I am also having the same problem after updating to the lastest updates from
Microsoft. I did a little research and found this info at this location
regarding upgrades to SP2, but in the location of the file installation
folders, I do not have the folder that Microsoft said we need to copy to the
Program Files\Movie Maker\ folder.
Here is the link to the info.

Thats the thing though, Im' talking about upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1. You
linked an article talking about 1.0 to 2.0. It's not the same situation.

No patch.....no update.....

Maybe the following articles will offer
some ideas:

Bad Installation Of Movie Maker 2.1
http://tinyurl.com/haq54

What can I do if I upgrade to Windows
XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?
http://tinyurl.com/65pfo

If you would like to try reinstalling SP2...
you can download it from the following site:

Download Windows XP SP2
http://tinyurl.com/6ubys

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.
