Help - I am out of ideas

Posted: 09-19-2006, 11:06 PM
I just completed a clean install of RC1 (32 bit) and everything went well.
The only problem I have is the IE7 can't access the Internet. I have a cable
modem connected to a small 5 port switch which wires directly to the
computer. Windows Mail connects fine. IE just sits there and grinds. If I
wire directly from the modem to the PC, IE works great.
Why would Mail work with the switch and not IE? This problem did not occur
with Beta 2.

Perhaps there is a firewall in your router that is blocking something?

Just in case that you did not check:

1. Check Connection/LAN/Detect Settings - should be checked.
2. Check Network and Sharing
Center/LAN/Properties/IPV4/Properties/General/Obtain IP Address *and* Obtain
DNS... - both should be checked; same for IPV6.
3. Network and Sharing Center/Local Area Connection Status/Diagnose
4. Do you have any other devices connected to the switch - try without any
other device connected.

What is the make/model of your switch?

Sounds like a DNS problem to me
