HELP!!! installing directx9 and other windows updates

Posted: 07-03-2003, 12:24 PM
After several attempts to download and run directx9a, the
error " The software installing has not passed Windows
logo testing..." it usually gives me an option to
continue or to stop but it doesn't do that. It just
stops installing. It's telling me to contact system
administrator... this happens when I try to download
windows updates as well. So in my research, I believe
there's something wrong with drivers not "digitally
signed".. so What Do I do??? I try updating my monitor
driver but it didn't help. I restore my computer using
nondestructive system... I just don't know what to
do... is there something wrong with my computer??? I
have HP.

Easier done then said...
Go to control panel and open the admin tools.
Open the local security settings and click on security options.
you will find a tab called 'unsigned driver installation'. Change its
setting to warn.
As for your warnings, make sure that your account is set to either an
Administrator of Power user in order to install.
If you don't want to you will have to enter your original administrators set
up account ( choose the old style log on and put the name and password for
the admin account in)
