help needed

I am trying to run windows xp repair from the disc and it won't accept my password. I don't understand what I am doing wrong, my profile is the computer administrator and i know the correct password. What password does the repair function want? How do I set it up?

The repair function is for tec persons only Microsoft has set this up so they can repair your system but you can not
This sounds strange but the password for the admin is not the one you set up
I have contacted MS and they are no help If you have problems F disc your hard drive format it and boot from the CD ro
you will have to go to the bios to boot from there make it the first boot driv

If this has helped or you have problems email me steve6015@blueyonder.co.uk u must put in the subject help me please for my account to accept i

Who's going to email you for assistance when it's blatantly obvious you
don't have the first idea what you're talking about?!

"The repair function is for tec persons only Microsoft has set this up so
they can repair your system but you can not"

You couldn't be more wrong if you subscribed to Mr Wrong's How to be
Completely and Utterly Wrong workshop.

The Recovery Console (I assume this is what you're talking about) can be
used by anyone who has the knowledge to use it - I have used it on several
occasions to perform repairs.

"This sounds strange but the password for the admin is not the one you set
up"

HUH?!?! How have you managed to come to that conclusion?! MS told you that
did they?! MS puts a unique password on everyone's system that only they
know?! Let's see there must be about what, let's say 1000 million (I may be
way out here) XP licences in circulation - that means 1000 million unique
passwords known only to MS - where are they all stored?! In a massive
database in Redmond?! Can you imagine the security risk?! MS aren't open
24/7 - what if someone needs to use the recovery console out of MS office
hours? I suppose you'll be telling me next they're available in a special
online database... Do you ever stop to think how implausible, not to mention
ridiculous, you sound?!

*EVERY* password on a system is the responsibility of the user - so the
admin password for the recovery console is the same as the one for the main
admin account (not an admin account, the main one). That is set by the user,
and has nothing whatsoever to do with Microsoft.

One final point - you have all this supposed 'technical' knowledge - yet you
post your full address to Usenet; you are, to use the proper technical term,
a fuckwit - 'one devoid of clue'. I suggest you avail yourself of some post
haste.

I have emailed you with a totally different subject line and your account
accepted it. So whatever 'block' you have in place isn't working - and the
spammers will think it's Christmas!

Don't worry - you didn't. I'm just sick to death of folk who post 'advice'
without checking to see if it's accurate or not first. Please disregard
everything Steve posted - he's wrong on all counts.
