I recently installed an Adaptec Serial ATA Host Controller 1205SA card
(ASH-1205SA) on my Windows XP PC for a SATA/150 200 GB hard drive.
During the installation, when prompted for the location of the software, I
get the message "The system cannot find the file specified." This message
pops up even if I enter the exact drive and folder where the drivers are
located. I downloaded the drivers from the Adaptec web site used them and
this message still pops up. After each of these attempts, the card is
visible in the Device Manager with no apparent error indicators.
While in device manager, the following information is present under the
"properties" of this device:
"This device is working properly.
The drivers for this device will be uninstalled when the machine is
restarted. Any changes you make to this device will not be preserved."
During each start-up I get the "New Hardware Found" message for this device
and I repeat the driver installation process again.
Each time I install the drivers, the hard drive works. If I don’t try to
install them the hard drive doesn’t work
How do I stop the "Found New Hardware" process? The drivers won’t stay
installed.
I changed the registry permissions for PCI in the registry to "Allow Full
Access". This does not appear to work.
Any help is appreciated.
