| I'm having trouble with windows defender every time I try to open it up a message suddenly appears that says," application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba." The message continues by saying, "a program caused windows defender's service to stop." I've tried to open it up maually but it won't let me and this message keeps poping up. What should I do? I tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but I do not know how. PLEASE HELP!!! --- Justin | Guest

| you have avast antivirus running, it most likely doesn't like Win Def. Look in Services and put every instance of avast on Manual so it doesn't start automatic, restart, and test Win Def. I had the same problem with Bitdefender antivirus. give it a go may work for you too. at least we'll know what's preventing WD from starting/working properly "Justin" wrote: Quote:
