Help With Vista, ICS, and Xbox 360 Please!!

Posted: 12-26-2007, 05:19 AM
Alright here is my situation. I have recently bought a new computer with
Vista Home Premium on it. My previous computer was a XP. I have dial-up
because that is all that I can get at my house. I use internet connection
sharing to connect the dial-up connection to my Xbox 360 so that I can
download patches for my games.

When I had XP this would work flawlessly. I'd connect to the internet then
it would connect to the Xbox 360 and I would be able to download patches and
stuff off the marketplace no problem.

With Vista it is a different story. I connect to the internet with dial-up
on Vista (I have 2 things checked on the sharing tab) then I turn on my Xbox.
When I turn on my Xbox it connects to Xbox Live, but when I download the
patches is where it gives me the problem.

It starts to download the patch getting a tiny bit of the patch downloaded
before it gives me the message "Update Failed, Can't complete the download."
It does this with every patch. I could download patches on XP with my Xbox
360 fine but why not with Vista?

In the network and sharing center it has my LAN connection as an
unidentified network that is public and I can't change the name of it. I have
it to obtain the IP Address of 192.168.0.1 and Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
instead of having it obtain automatically because otherwise it doesn't
connect to my 360.

Here is my ipconfig settings:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6000]

Any ideas? Please help me because I want to be able to download the patches
without it taking a hour to do when it should take five minutes.

Thank you for your time!
