How 'bout giving me Windows XP with the Vista UI??? You can call it
"XPeesta". Basically I'm not diggin' the Vista security features and now XP
looks ugly. *sigh*

Try: www.stardock.com for WindowsBlinds 5.1 or ObjectDesktop.

The Vista Security features (most of them anyway) can luckily be disabled.

LOL, I could dig that too. It's hilarious that you can't access files that
you've put on your own pc without going through allow after allow after
allow......... and then still get denied from looking at a jpeg that you put
on the pc.

What'd you do, turn off all security? It's happening and I'm not the only
one. I should add that this happens when I try to get something from my XP
partition but can't really understand why you can't access personal data
without all the "allowing". That resetting security to get to them is just
too much. Takes way too long and by that time, I'm not interested.

I am serious. Walk me through what you are doing. I have all kinds of
personal files and it doesn't prompt me.

These were actions to finally get to one picture folder and look at the
pictures in it. Prior to that, I had tried to get control of the whole
picture folder with all the sub-folders but each folder in there does the
same thing.

They are:
1.You don't currently have permission to access this folder.
Click Continue to get access to this folder.
2. Windows needs your permission to continue.
If you started this action, continue.
Edit Security
Microsoft Windows
3.You have been denied permission to access this folder.
To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab.
4. The next step is to right-click on the folder and select the security tab.
5. To continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view
this object's security properties.(I am the administrator). I
click on continue.
6. If you started this action, continue.
Permission editor for files and folders.
Microsoft Windows
7. Next you get the change owners screen. I choose myself and click
continue.
8. Prompt that says: If you have just taken ownership of this object, you
will need to close and reopen this object's properties before you can view or
change permissions. I click OK.
9. Then you get a box that says "Windows needs your permission to continue".
10. You do not have permission to read the contents of directory (full path
to folder). Do you want to replace the directory permissions with
permissions granting you Full Control?
All permissions will be replaced if you press Yes.
11. If you have just taken ownership of this object you will need to close
and reopen this object's properties before you can view or change permissions.
Next time I double-click the folder, I get the prompt that says "You don't
currently have permission to access this folder.
Click Continue to get access to this folder."
Finally it opens.
Too much for me.

I dragged the Virtualized folder to the Favorites section in the Explorer.
That saves me a lot of trouble.

I don't see a favorites section in Explorer nor do I know what a virtualized
folder is. A search of help didn't gve me the answer.
