hi, on my hp laptop (pavilion N5470, under the impression that it has cd
writer and DVD, i have installed Io Mega ZipCD software. In fact the
software is not installed. But when ever I am booting the system, I am
getting the message:-

"DirectCD3

A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This
driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an
update that is compatible with this version of Windows."

And - on verification of more information I found that the following are the
Obsolete Application and Device Drivers:-

DirectCD UdfReadr.sys Roxio, Inc. More Info

DirectCD cdudf.sys Roxio, Inc. More Info

CD Recording Software cdralw2k.sys Roxio, Inc. More Info

CD Recording Software cdr4_2k.sys Roxio, Inc. More Info

I am a novice and I want that the icons in the taskbar and the message on
the desktop should not appear. I also want to know about the effect of
deletion of the above system files. Please help..

The software to which the error refers is the Direct CD component of Roxio's
Easy CD Creator and the version to which it refers is not compatible with
XP. Your computer is a model that is around 3 years old so I assume XP was
added later. If XP was installed over the previous setup and the previous
setup had the above mentioned application already installed on it, it is
apparently still installed.

Do not manually delete any system files.

Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, look for Easy CD Creator in the
list, if you see it, select it and use the Add/Remove utility to remove it.

Hi
Posted: 08-06-2004, 07:57 PM
I am using registered Windows XP Home edition (SP1) (P4
1.6Ghz, 256 Mb Ram, G Force 2mx/mx 400). Recently I
installed Bluetooth USB device & Pinnacle Stereo PCTV on
my computer. The day I have installed these both I have
started facing problem. When ever I start my PC & log in
to my account I get a message Generic Host process for
Win 32 has encountered a problem and needs to close, send
error report, If I don't send the error report the pc
will hang up & if I send the error report the pc will
work.
I have uninstalled the Bluetooth Device now but I cannot
see my network connections in the start up menu. My dial
up (Internet) shortcut on the desktop does not open up,
now I dial for internet using Internet Explorer & my
internet connection is still working I use a 56 kbps
modem. I cannot see anything in my Network places, if I
try setting up new network connection that does not work
either, it gets created but its icon does not get
created. My modem & network card everything is working
properly, even there drivers are working properly. I
don't know how to get the things back to normal, tell me
how my network connection will get back to normal & how
will I stop getting this error message. I regularly
update my Windows & Norton anti virus2003.

Many a times my Pc TV also hangs up when I am watching
TV, It works sometimes but most of the time it does not
work. Its says "hardware initialization failed", whenever
I open PCTV vision.

I tried using Direct X Diagnostic & in the Net work
option I got the following messages
.. The registry information for the service
provider 'DirectPlay8 TCP/IP Service Provider' is missing
or damaged.
.. The registry information for the service
provider 'DirectPlay8 IPX Service Provider' is missing or
damaged.
.. The registry information for the service
provider 'DirectPlay8 Modem Service Provider' is missing
or damaged.
.. The registry information for the service
provider 'DirectPlay8 Serial Service Provider' is missing
or damaged.

I use scan disk & Defragmenter regularly but my computer
has become very slow after all this. If u still did not
understand what my PC problem is mail me back I will try
explaining u my Pc problem again.

Thanking You.

Yours Sincerely
